Andreas tasted blind. Dark colour, very much a new world young Cabernet Sauvignon aromatics to the point he said Montebello 10-15 year’s old. Impressively young wine and having tried the 2000 a few weeks ago ( Papies 93h Ethan was full on earthy and well evolved this was a proper surprise. Herby, rich and ever so beautiful. Impossible not to confuse it with a new world wine. Very good 93

After 3x 93 this bottles was really not inspiring and we wonder if its just a poor show rather than the wine dropping off a cliff in the 2 years since we had this last. hhmm. Pointless to rate this time but it was no better than a 90

This was a steal at auction due to a base of neck fill which I didn’t realize until after bidding.
Decanted for about an hour and drank for 3 hours on the first day. Really nice amount of green pepper with cassis and a hint of tobacco leaf on the nose. The palate is clean and refined but lacks the volume and intensity of the 1999 that I had recently and was glorious.
Much better on day 3 when it gained more balance and a slight sweetness on the palate as well which gave it a nice lift. Still very Tuscan at heart and soul, would be hard to pick this as a Bordeaux. Overall good wine but not great, no added layer of complexity to take it to that level. Probably best to hold these bottles for at least 5 years for tertiary notes to develop.

Pnp. Drinkable but cork unfortunately slightly off. Seemed more youthful than the bottle a year ago.

Fresh, smooth and well balanced. Very smooth in the mouth. Towards the end of the drinking window, the peak has probably been past a few years.
