Showed quite well, especially for about $25. Nose has tart currants and raspberries, along with tobacco, sage, menthol, sweet incense. Still taut with bright acidity (a bit of VA, but it's not out of hand). Tart red currants mixed with smoky menthol, incense sticks, leather, tobacco. Lean style but still tannic. Not something I'd hold on to for more than a few more, but interesting, solid 01 Rioja.

Still tons of fruit. Overall a fine experience. Had with a casual but brilliant Sunday meal of grilled flank steak on toasted rolls with arugula, caramelized onions, and homemade horseradish sauce. Molly's pasta salad and Lauren's cast iron okra. We preferred the earthiness and complexity of the '01 d'Arsac in comparison. Struggle to see where this will go.

Nice, strong spicy aroma. A bit thin on the palate but excellent finish with smooth tannins, nice acidity and fine dark berry fruit aftertaste. A nice value that one should drink now.

Very nice nose of subtle oak and plum. The palate is a let-down with tired fruit and overly acidic, but not undrinkable by any means. Much improved on day 2 with more fruit showing and a softer texture.

Tired, hot, and overly acidic. Not terrible, but $20 is too much to pay at WTSO's "discount" price.
