This was right at the optimal point for my tastes. I love a cab that is juuuuust on the very back edge of optimal and this one was right there. The nose was a little weedier than I thought it was going to be and made me wonder if I had made a mistake holding it maybe a little too long. But this actually benefitted from 20-30 minutes of air and definitely worked out a lot of that funkiness. The nose after a lot of things blew off was mushroom, truffles, soy sauce, black figs and blackberry. The palate was dense overripe fruits that were similar to the nose, the finish gaining a little bit of dusty tannin, black pepper finish.

While without a doubt, it was time to drink, it was tremendous from first opening - fruit was still present and smooth tannins. Slow Ox for 6 hours, then decanted and drank over 2 hours - it just got better as you go. If you have one, for sure open up and enjoy with a great steak.

Drinking very well. Oak is integrated, tannins are smooth, fruit is rebounding and plenty of secondary flavors. Excellent.
