I get a lot of savory/earthy notes here with the fruit playing second fiddle at this site, which I love. Spiced beautifully with good structure for aging. Closely resembles Will Hamilton’s Violin Sojeau SVD, which is a personal favorite of mine, and it makes sense I’d be a fan of this wine too. Feels like a great Morey St. Denis to me. 93pts.

2022 Walter Scott test drive (zoom): This is wound a bit tight right now on the nose while showing off upfront tones of red cherries, spice box, toasty notes, currants, orange peels, crushed rocks, and some raspberry notes. There is good depth here, but it is being held back by its youth right now. The Medium/full bodied feel shows off good texture and balance with crisp, medium+ acidity and chewy, medium+ tannins. The structure is a bit punishing at the moment and is showing off a lot of youth. This needs the better part of 5+ years to begin to show itself off as it just isn't showing the level of expression that other Pinots have.

Walter Scott 2022 Vintage Zoom Tasting: Similar perfume-like nose to the Sojeau Chardonnay, with hints of wet leather and red currant. Prominent red cherry and raspberry flavors with an undercurrent of plum and blackberry. Long finish, medium/high acid. Round, enveloping mouthfeel. Truly lovely.

Good potential, but in a slightly shut down spot at the moment. Wait another year and revisit.
