  • Light pink center with orange rim. The nose comes across as well-aged and autumnal with red cherry, mint, and spice. The palate displays tangy cherries, earth, mint, minerals, and spice. This light-bodied wine has vibrant acidity and balanced structure. Long, tangy finish of cherry and spice. Overall, this was a well balanced wine with verve and ripe fruit, and I was impressed by the wine's balance and class.

  • Brick red center with light orange rim. Lovely nose of rose petals, orange blossom, cherries with a touch of bottle stink. The palate displays complex bottle sweetness as well as tart cranberry and cherry. There is high acidity in this medium-bodied wine, and as it warms more heat shows. At cooler temperatures, the heat is not apparent. Overall, this is a little over it apex, but it is still an interesting, well aged wine.

  • Light red color with no orange tint. The gorgeous nose is packed with red cherry, red raspberry, sandlewood, stems, and earth. For the first 20 minutes, the palate was a shock, as it was overripe with prunes and tobacco, but with air, it evolved into red raspberry, cocoa, stems, oregano, earth, and spice. The mouthfeel is light and silky with balanced acidity and good midpalate depth. The solid finish is packed with raspberry and spice. Overall, I am pleased that the pruney, overripe opening blew off to reveal quite a lovely, complex pinot noir with great mouthfeel.

  • Had with Chinese dumplings from Din Tai Fung last night which was a decent match. A very pretty wine with a red fruit profile. Not overly complex, but not a one dimensional wine either. Very well balanced with a great mouthfeel and just a hint of oak on the finish (in a good way). Nose was a little reticent, but otherwise a very good wine.

This has definitely improved with some age. Some of the awkwardness I remember from a few years ago is gone. Well done and an excuse to buy more from Windy Oaks.

  • drinking nicely. Oak is detectable, but generally integrated. on the lighter end of the CA pinot spectrum...hints of complexity.
