La Cena di Albino Rocca (Rosso and Rosso, Newtown): Meaty, savoury initially, alcohol prickle rears its ugly head again on the nose, masking all other aromas and numbing the nasal cavities…the onslaught is at an end with the last wine of the tasting, a little baked and slight maraschino cherry, that alcohol lends spice, medium plus intensity acidity, plenty of alcohol again. Woody grippy tannins, dry out the palate, sucking at he tongue, acidity lends a little sharpness. Fruit is muted, finishes warm. Exhausting!
