  • Opened the bottle and let it breathe for 20 minutes. Crimson color, beautiful. Nose show good notes of raspberries and incense. Very nice acidity - this wine is faring far better than professional tasters predicted - raspberries, red currants, violets, a hint of smoke. Tannins still present but not intrusive anymore, medium finish with lingering red fruit notes and some nice smoky notes. 14.3% alcohol - this was a warm vintage in Sonoma and the alcohol shows, however the age has made this very elegant and highly enjoyable!

  • Drank over a few hours. Drank in Grassl Cru.
Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of fresh black cherries, dried violets, emerging earth and some mineralic hints. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14.3%), medium tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of black cherries, dark red cherries, boysenberries, licorice, spice. Maybe some of that subtle earth and minerals in the background. Long finish.
Very good quality. Bit of a sleeper hit. Could use 2-3 years more to develop more tertiary notes.

  • Wow this wine is one class act. Subtle nose of spices and flowers, with notes of vanilla. On the palate its nicely balanced with dark mature fruit flavors along with earth and more spice. A hint of cola. Long finish. VERY NICE

  • The cork did not make but the wine certainly did. Great fruit with tartness and special Green Valley earthy minerality character I like. Maybe some subdued pine needles.

  • Strange and strong VA when opened, so much that I thought it might be flawed. But after some airtime it blew off to reveal a palate of prominent secondary flavor lacking a a fruit core. Combined with harsh acidity this was quite a disappointment.
