  • Should have been better. Nice red-purple color. Subdued nose even with some swirling. Red and black fruit flavors are pretty but a bit one dimensional. Finish comes off as austere. Nothing like Volnay. I had a bunch of this a few years back -- had a lot of nice fruit and concentration then. This was much more enjoyable in its youth.

  • For me this was only about the acidity. Bright, fresh, almost citric. Delicate, approachable fruit. Limited depth and complexity. Would have paired well with scallops or trout. Unfortunately, we had it with lamb and it lacked the muscle to compete. If I were setting you up on a blind date with this wine and you asked if she was beautiful, I'd say, she's got a great sense of humor.

  • 13.0% alcohol. Opened 24 hours before drinking but not decanted. Very pretty nose of strawberry, cranberry, apple skin, minerals, and Christmas spice. In the mouth, quite refined, with plenty of fruit that had a nice combo of ripe notes and tartness. Earth and Christmas spice complemented nicely. The acidity was quite refined but zippy. Solid finish that showed some serious tannins. Very nice. B+/A-

  • Very rustic and masculine. Animal flavors (leather and meat) dominate the wine, but there is good dark fruit underneath. There are some violets on the palate that make this a very interesting wine. Great texture with silky tannins. Acidity a bit sharp, but that should blow off with time. Not my style of burgundy, but I appreciate it for what it is. Decent buy under $20. This is very approachable now (I would decant for 2-3 hours now) and should drink well for another 7-10 years.
