  • Dinner at Edouard's - Rhubarb on the nose, there is so much complexity. Extremly layered midpalate. Based on my recollection of an otherwordly 13 disgorged Roises i think this is still early days for this. There is so much woven into this that i suspect it can show very differently at different stages of evolution though always brilliantly. This wine has always made me weal at the knees the 4 or 5 times I have had it.

  • Lunch at the Librije (Zwolle, NL): [Restaurant Purchase] No detailed nose. My second bottle of Ulysse Collin (the other being the Jardin d’Ulysse ‘16) and my expectations were higher than this bottle delivered. Very well balanced, orange peel, white peach, chalky minerality, fresh croissants. Long finish

  • No. 0334. Base R-2016, aged for 60 months and disgorged on 16/02/2022. PNP into Riedel Yoichi glass ("Flower" day): Medium bright golden to the eyes.

Brioche, deep citrus fruits like ripe grapefruits, lemon rinds, and orchard fruits like golden apples, hints of flint, smoke and toast. Extremely well integrated indeed.

High acidity, minerality, lean with lots of energy and medium bodied - immediately clear on first sip that this is the top echelon of what the region can offer. Long and persistent finish.

Extremely well balanced between the top classic and grower styles here in my view. 95 points.

  • Max s Bday bash at Juice Winebar, Singapore - brief notes due to (nice) distraction of social engagement. Initially showing acid mostly as it was served too cold. Grower Champagnes show much better if served a bit warmer (2 Celsius) than accepted wisdom. Revisited much later it displayed a wide array of yellow fruits consistent with earlier tastings assessment that this is a more exotic expression of Chardonnay than Côte des Blancs Champagnes.

  • Ye Paulee (Hao Noodle): No 31, disgorged 03/2021 after 48 months. Quite acidic and simple, weird that this is closed/far behind from the 60 months. 92
