Very few bubbles, just a hint of effervescence. Complex aroma - fresh cherries, cherry ice cream, cherry coke, strawberries, red apple, vanilla and flowers. Flavor mirrors the aroma with vibrant red fruit. Slightly toastier after some air. Really, really good - it’s a shame this is so hard to find. 98 rating stands.

The nose is deep and layered right away. There is always a ton of anticipation to one of these and it was sailing right away as it perfumed up the glass with red berries, kumquat, nectarine, raspberries, roses, pears, navel oranges, toast, fresh citrus, biscuits, and a touch of warm dough. The Medium bodied feel is polished and deep as it glides across the palate while backed up with racy, high acidity that quickly makes your mouth water. It is a treat when I come across these as the price in the states has just completely run away from me. This completely nailed the anticipation and it is certainly towards the top of my list for Champagnes of the year.

Had a sip of this. Beautiful aroma of strawberry, berries and raspberry. Lovely texture and flavour on the palate with lingering red fruits finish. Classic UC style.

Lively red fruit and yeast aroma. Strawberry, cranberry, pomegranate, and red cherry flavors with a creamy, yeasty vanilla finish. Very complex. Fine bubbles result in a creamy mouth feel. Well balanced.
Has a lot of character. Not sure it gets much better than this. 2018 base; Disgorged February 2022.

On the attack, the 2018 base Rose de Saignée shows a Pavlova-like character, full of strawberry and cream. The palate is strikingly acidic despite the heat of the 2018 vintage (maybe tempered by the reserve wines) and offers an amazingly grenadine-like flavor profile. I might expect a longer finish. While this is pleasant, it seems dissociated both from the price asked and from the quality of the other wines (Blanc de noirs & Blanc de blancs) in the Ulysse Collin line. Young, yes, but followed for 24 hours without any substantial evolution.
