Picked up yesterday, delicious Texas fruit combination with emphasis on Merlot grapes(see below). I'm not typically a Merlot fan, yet this is a lovely blend rendering a Bordeaux type wine. You must try this wine, it's zesty on the palate with a decent finish. I'm getting the tart cherries with pepper and the mid palate cranberry. There is a nice acidity lending to the complexity. Could be paired with pork loins, BBQ chicken, or veal cutlets.
Notes from Becker Vineyards: A new label created here at Becker Vineyards dedicated to the artistic expression of our masterful winemaker Jon Leahy! This masterpiece takes in consideration the passion that the Becker Family has with the expression of French wines, in particular the Bordeaux region of which this wine emulates.
Primarily Merlot based woven in a tapestry with Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a splash of Petit Verdot makes this a beautiful layer of expressive experience on the nose and palate.
Aromatics: Bing cherries, orange zest, cranberry chutney, leather, and a hint of cinnamon
On the palate: Tart cherry, cranberry, cacao, white pepper, grilled peppers, violets, and a hint of mint leaf
Enjoy now, or age 5-10 years
Harvest Date: August - September, 2019 Aging: 3yrs American Oak Bottling Date :01/22/2024 Alcohol 14.5%
Tasting Notes from Becker: Tart cherry, cranberry, orange zest, white pepper, and cacao bean.
77% Merlot (Wilmeth Family Vineyards), 12% Cabernet Sauvignon (Canada Family Vineyards), 7% Cabernet Franc (Reddy Vineyards), 4% Petit Verdot (Farmhouse Vineyards)
