This is past its prime. Whiff of sweet fruits initially then overwhelming soy sauce aroma. Tart red fruits with soft tannins but with somewhat barnyard “effect” on the palate.

Dried medium red fruit on the nose upon open. Pale red in color. In the first hour, a bit subdued on the palate, but very pleasant with good acidity and tannic balance. Fills in very nicely after two hours with a rich mid palate of strawberries and finishes strong with a warm, masculine tannic bite and plenty of minerality. In its window but can go another couple of years without much concern.

David Bowler Spring Tasting; 3/26/2008-3/30/2008 (Tribecca Grill): richer, riper than the Volnay, bit more masculine, great!
