  Medium deep ruby, with unstable tannins. Deep ripe dark red fruit to nose, hint of leather, slightly porty. Medium-bodied, but with formerly flush, fleshy fruit receding en boca to reveal lightly grippy tannins. With some breathing, lavender, violet high tones emerge, but without food, the grape tannins tug on the teeth. Finish is short. Very disappointing: was lovely 3 years ago -- still has freshness, but the juxtaposition of fruit to tannin isn't balanced right now.
