  • With beef tagliata, 5 bottles, very limited bottle variation, no flawed
    Medium ruby, some bricking
Intense nose of ripe sweet red fruits, hint of clove and all spice.
    Fully evolved tannins, good acidity.
A pleasure through the evening. Unlikely to improve

  • Brick red. Sweet red fruit with hint of leather, cinnamon and clove. Decent acidity. Pairs well with spaghetti and meatballs. Very little difference between pnp and night two (pumped w vacuvin). Similar tasting to last year. Can't see this improving but likely to have several more years in its prime. Note: my score is biased by price paid. I picked this up for approx $30/bottle, which is in line w CT value. Others have said this wine is "expensive" - above $50 I would be less enamored.

  • App : Clear with med+ intensity. Almost purple with strong ruby tinge throughout. Obvious maturity signs. Nose : Clean. Med+ Intensity. Developing. Sweet red fruits - redcurrant/cherry. Nicely integrated spicey oak. Palate : Dry. Med acidity/tannin. Med+ body/flavour intensity. Interesting mature notes of meats - salami aswell as intense and brooding red turning to black fruits. Interesting sour notes. Quite long. Conc : When I drank this wine 2 years ago it wasn't a patch on this. Evolving beautifully. Very expensive wine and beginning to show why now. Clearly a wine that must be cellared and drunk old/mature. Still plenty of time left to enjoy this superb wine. A joy to drink but would be even better with a plate full of quality Italian meats, breads and cheeses.

  • good example of negroamaro with no off flavours. drinking well now but far too expensive for the quality. would be great at half the price!

  • While this wine was fairly light in body with little tannin, it had enough mouth feel and length to appreciate. Nose of stewed tomatoes, blood and funk. Too much tomato on the palate when first opened but with a little air time it evolved to include notes of smoke, meat and burnt sugar. Not a wine for everyone but I enjoyed it.
