  • Pale to medium garnet/ruby with some bricking with rim clearing
Aromatics medium. Oak initially including some vanilla and wood spice that are all in harmony without dominating the nose. Leather, a little tar and moss. Later some tobacco resin.
Palate has a medium body. Acid medium +. Tannins medium +, medium grained and perfectly integrated. Alcohol medium. Sweet and sour cherry with some lingering wood.
Finish has a medium length. Balanced
Well made classic Rioja that has matured without losing the fruit and has some nice tertiaries. This still has aging potential, but I'm not sure why I'd hold my other bottles.

  • 3rd of 6 bottles purchased of this 2022 Library Release. Sour red cherry, leather, sweet oak, tobacco. Old style Rioja!

  • A Library Release in 2022. This 25 yr old Rioja still has alot of life, not showing many signs of age. An older style of Rioja, very lean. Lots of sweet oak, tart cherry, strawberry, leather, tobacco.

  • 1 of 6 bottles purchased from a 2022 Library release. Drinking well and still young at 24 years. Glad I had a Durand with the cork as it was needed. Nice red cherry, a smooth, complimentary, and well integrated wood flavor, tobacco, light leather flavors.

  • Dark, opaque ruby in color leading to a thin bricking along the rim. On the nose, I find black pepper, charred oak, cranberry and green pepper over a wet earth base. In the mouth, the wine shows pure spicy wood notes that pound on the middle and sides of my tongue, followed by a thin and diluted cranberry and green pepper finish. My tongue is still recovering moments after I taste it! 2/5
