Pungent nose, showing red fruit, tobacco and herbal elements. Medium bodied, chalky and relatively austere. Tart, dark cherries and raspberries on the palate along with tobacco and bitter chocolate. Would not recommend.

Good inexpensive quasi-CdR. Softer and more New World than Charvin's actual CdR, with less of all that cigar and blood and earth and a bit more fruit and simple unfinished tannin. Built like a tank: lasted more than a week after opening and still drank well.

Ditto the previous poster, this is a delicious wine, great notes of garrigue, blueberry, licorice. Slightly tannic, backed up by good fruit. Bought a few more and will cellar for a few months... very curious where this could go.

(CHARVIN Princi d?Orange a) Charvin Dear Friends, Maybe I should call this "Unpretentious Tuesday" or something like that but this wine really fits the bill. Charvin had great success in 2006 (with the entire portfolio) and this wine should be enjoyed simply for what it is - a bottle to open when friends and family drop by and the wine is not intended to be the star attraction - the conversation is. You can open multiple bottles of this and it is sure to please even the most curmudgeonly know-it-alls. This would also be a terrific wine in a party setting of experienced and inexperienced palates as well - there's something for everyone here. After a few sips, you may be quite surprised by this unconventional blend of Rhone and Bordelaise varietals - it is certainly an easy wine to enjoy but there is much more going on than the obvious (it is sourced from excellent material not cast-off fruit): ONE SHIPMENT ONLY with perfect provenance (this wine sold much faster than Laurent Charvin anticipated - it's basically sold out at the winery): 2006 Domaine Charvin VdP de la Principaute d'Orange A Cote Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Rhone7733

Delicious and intriguing blend of Grenache and Merlot. Licorice and flowers. I really liked this.
