Maranges (an appellation created in 1989 from three villages) is just south of Santany, and is off many maps. This is from Dezize. A tangy nose. On the palate pleasant rustic blood orange with well integrated structure. Clearly a premier cru, and benefits from the overall excellent 02 vintage. A sturdy soldier who reads the occasional romance novel.

Dusty mushroom, strawberry, licorice, moss, and paint thinner present themselves on the nose. The taste is filled with chalky strawberry and moss. A medium finish with mild refined tannins follows through to the back of your tongue, where a hint of heat peaks through. This wine may be past its prime, but I'm leaning toward the adage that "it wasn't that good to begin with." This wine is about average, and not a particularly good buy for $25.

Nothing wrong with this. Nice nose. Standard pinot. Good with food.

Pretty and pleasant - a well-aged Burg. Light, elegrant fruit - strawberry and cranberry, with good earthiness underneath. Drhink up.
