Birthday dinner that included a 1957 Cune Imperial Gran Rioja. Kept it in the bottle and did not decant, opting instead to go straight to the glass and allow it to open there (just in case). This wine looked garnet colored, minimal bricking for a 56 year old wine which had us wondering. The foil sticking to the bottle and cork and appearance of the cork to us underscored it's authenticity. There was surprisingly light sediment in the bottle. It smelled of cherry, maybe fruit compote, chocolate, spice, hint of leather, balsamic. The aromas jumped from the glass. Medium body, round, coating texture. The wine finishes long - 15-20 sec. Drank over 1 1/2- 2 hr period and it never fell apart. (purchased @ Rare Wine Co.)

Ornellaia Dinner (Stefani Prime - Lincolnwood IL): A little dirty to start, this almost cleaned up with air but there was never really much pleasure in this glass.

Wine Tasted at Acker Auction (Marea - New York NY): Small pour, brief note. Rose color, some charming aromas, but quite thin and pale overall.
