  • PNP into Zalto Burgundy glass (“Root” day): Medium bright golden to the eyes.

Upfront unmistakable sandalwood/burdock/ginseng aromas suggest top aged burgundy white. Super fresh citrus with, stone fruits like ripe apricots, and ever so slightly hints of honey and toast. Just the perfect ripeness of balance here without any excessive corn-, sugar-cane notes that suggest a little overripeness here. This is deep indeed.

Grapefruits leads the 2nd wave of ultra finely detailed fruit aromas. I think this bottle is peaking now if not on its way to it as of today.

Very nicely tight at its core of super bright acidity followed by minerality on palate, rich, luxurious fruit flavours to support and this is very complete on the palate with a finish of rich in spices.

This is a really superb example of a top flight, aged Burgundy white. 94-95 points.

1 hour upon opening: Even more integrated on nose and palate with more smoky, yellow fruits and some mango peels here that completes the picture. Incredible precision and hard not to like. Upgrade to 95 points.

  • A very fine bottle that started off a bit shy but blossomed into nice freshens, with Puligny reminiscent notes but a bit lighter in weight with good saline notes citrus & flowers. Considering the age this was quite smashing. A real treat -thank you SL

  • Medium-bright yellow-gold color. Aged nutty aromas with hazelnut and some almond covering some back notes of vanilla and nutmeg. Some thought this corked. As it did not get worse over the night, and the elements of the wine that emerged were positive, I kept on sipping. With time in the glass, this broadened and showed some rustic hazelnut and cream notes with a bit of citrus and tart apple still lingering in the long finish. Given a concensus of cork on the same wine a year ago and the questions from some of the same group this year, call this one a qualified disaster of a purchase and a disappointment given the rarity. Cellared from original purchase/release. Drink?

  • Despite looking a bit dark, I thought that this was remarkably fresh, with pretty, round fruit, hints of citrus and some lovely white floral tones. Not on the same level as the Bouchard and Coche, but a really nice drink that kept getting better with time in the decanter.

  • Impressive wine. Currently drinking over a lunch.

This seems to be a mix between the roundness of a Meursault (buttery flavor, texture on the palate) and the minerality of a Puligny (fresh, citrusy scents, length on palate). This one is a knockout, that clearly rivals the grands crus, let it be Chevalier/Batard and the likes. But for a fraction of the price. A knock-out effort by Mme Bize !
