Dark color. Big and bold dark fruit on the nose that carries over to the palate.Sweet fruit, quite delicious. Seems much younger than it is. Appears to be a more recent release--many at the table wondered if the bottle had been topped off with a younger wine.

Cork crumbeld and came out in pieces. Initially the 78 (to follow) was much more approachable, however with time in the glass, this developed beautifully. Initially quite tight, but then the leafy, sous bois and tertiary notes started to blossom. Dark fruited and more muscular than the 78 but great balance. I loved the long sweet finish. 94 pts.

(Remoissenet Père et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin Les Combottes) This 69, if anything, shows a younger colour than the '79. More mineral and medicinal aromas. In the mouth much more mineral and muscular - yet with the same panoramic, faintly astringent width as the 79. Faintly long and very sprightly. There is a perfect skeleton here for a longer life than the 79.

Domaine release in pristine condition. Very good structure and color. Another classic 69 gevrey, with another few more years to come.

Still amazing... a great old wine with plenty of fruit. Took an hour plus to open.
