  Der Barbaresco Rio Sordo 2001 von Giacosa Fratelli hatte seine Qualitäten. Für mich schmeckte er blutiger, rustikaler, etwas tierischer und gröber als sein Freund aus dem Nachbardorf. Ein absolut anständiger **** Nebbiolo der sich auch noch einige Zeit zur Entwicklung leisten darf

  Ordered off the menu at Bistro 5 (Medford, MA). Very fresh on tasting, decanted and drank over 2.5 to 3 hours. Went dumb in the decanter for about an hour, then the tannins came back and the wine got substantially bigger. Berries and vanilla layered over big nose and flavors of tar. Tannins are big, but smooth, on the finish, supplying a mocha kick. Went nicely with a meal of sweet potato gnocci over boar ragu and rabbit loin and confit with pancetta, polenta, and broccoli rabbe. Definitely on the modern side, but nice.
