  • Teeters back and forth on that line between early maturity and hitting the snooze button and going back to sleep. It starts out in the former category with some semi-mature caramelized aromas, black-toned fruit, and a mostly resolved texture with just a wisp of tannin. But sometimes it shows another side where it's all juicy, high-toned apply fruit and feels either closed or without much there.

  • Very primary scents but superb palate presence. The suave black fruit is ultra-tender in texture with three-dimensional delineation in the mouth - the material is gentle and transparent enough that it conveys a sense of space. It's hard to explain the sensation, but the 2007 from barrel, barely through malo, did it too. The difference in style vs. the rest of the lineup at Ardhuy which is more Cote de Beaune-centric is dramatic. This is more refined even than the grand crus, and extremely classy stuff.
