Very deep ruby core with thin, pale ruby rim. Lots of wood on the nose: cedar, mothballs, coconut, butter, and a bit of blueberry jam. Very un-Margaret River. Essentially dry on the palate, with plenty of acidity and only medium amount of tannins. Have I mentioned the oak already? There’s lots more of it on the palate: coconut cream pie, cedar, with a diacetyl finish. Yes, there’s also some fruit here (blueberry and raspberry, with an interesting, minty note), but it is largely overwhelmed by the wine’s hardwood finish. Although I felt this wine actually had something to say, I could not see the forest for the trees.

Remarkable, good body nice hint of fruit cherry, amazingly good in 2017.

Berries and briar. Palate is well rounded and has good length.
