Absolutely one of the finest California Merlots I have ever had, this wine is a dead ringer for a St. Emilion Grand Cru from a young year such as 2005. Stunning purity and color. The nose is full of red fruits, mocha, toasty oak and earthy spices. A concentrated, full bodied Merlot with exceptional balance even now, loads of tannin but with 3-4 hours of decanting just as smooth as one could hope for. The sense of sweet fruit dominates this wine from nose to finish, but the complexity and fullness of flavors gives this Merlot an impressively rich depth. No question that this wine will get better, and I would think 5 years to fully mature and thereafter will reward the owner for another 20 years. It's that good. 92% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Savignon and 4% Petite Verdot this wine spent 22 months in new French and used oak. Stunning wine!

Excellent flavor, hints of mint paired extremely well with a Mint Lamb dish.
