Nose: Initially Porty and funky, there was some weeping around the cork as well which made me a little nervous. This gave way to licorice, bacon and cigar box accompanied by fruity sweets (starburst), subdued black fruit and buttermilk Mouth: Lovely dry, savoury tannin and good mouth feel. there is a little fruit as well as chocolate. the finish is medium long and warm and welcoming rather than bitter. The wine also retains some acidity which implies there is still some life here. A good quaffing shiraz (AUD25). For me and my ignorant palate, Hunter valley produces the most quaffing Northern Rhone style Shiraz (or Syrah if you will) in Australia. And I love it!

Nose of mocha and tree bark. Mouth of salted plums, lacquer and blueberry. A touch of bitterness on swallowing which gives way to a huge, long finish of blackcurrant and varnished wood.
