  • 2nd wine of the night. Drank with 16 spice rubbed chicken with black pepper vinaigrette and bluecheese butter corn on the cob. Nose was very Chassagne like which immediately caught my attention. Cream, oak, almonds, melon, and tropical fruit underlying it. On the palate creamy mouthfeel with vanilla, toasted almonds, apple core, orange marmalade. Just when you think it is too soft and creamy, the back end acidity comes along to provide terrific balance. This wine was very impressive for me. It had all the makings of something from Puligny or Chassagne and I was very surprised of the power but finesse that this wine had given its appellation. Maybe I need to seek out some of these gems from Pouilly-Fuisse. because I really like this. Retails for around $60 I think but drinks more like some of the $90-$100 counterparts from more revered villages.

  • Burgundy Corner (Wine Exchange - Orange, CA): Pure gold color with medium legs. This is the most obviously oaked wine of the bunch as it is apparent on the nose. Overwhelming toasty vanilla aromas with underlying citrus and melon fruit. There is great fruit density and persistence on the palate with flavors of melon, tropical fruits, and coconut. This wine saw 50% new oak for 15 months; hopefully it integrates with time. 90+?
