  • Black cherry, blackberry and a touch of cedar and spice on the nose. The fruit on the palate with notes of vanilla, chocolate and lavender. Long sensuous finish with mineral notes. Should have bought more…

  • On PNP, it was alcoholic hot and also dominated by oak. After a couple hours in the decanter, it blossomed into a nice mature CA Cabernet offing a scented perfume of crushed blackberries, spring flowers along with smoked meats and oak spice.

It was mostly blackberry and lots of oak in the first hour. With time in the glass, more red and black fruit developed including black raspberry and cassis. The oak faded, but was still prominent on the finish where more red/black fruit merged with notes of pencil lead, tobacco, and mesquite.

Overall, a bit too much oak for my palate, others may love that aspect. Certainly ready now, should hold for another 5 plus years. Decant recommended.

  • Monte Rosso Fruit makes a very nice Sonoma Cabernet

  • At 13 years old, still opaque black to the edge with an inch pour. Rich nose of black currant, blackberry, and black cherry. Glides smoothly into the mouth buoyed by bright acidity and drying tannin. The swallow generates a spike of mouth coating black fruit. Overall, a classic high mountain Cabernet Sauvignon with delicious fruit, superb integration, lush texture, and deep concentration.

  • Drank my one and only bottle of this Beauty last evening at a tasting of wines from the Monte Rosso Vineyard. The wine was drinking beautifully with a flavor profile of dark fruits, licorice, perhaps some leather. Everything was wrapped into a seamlessly integrated and hedonistic drink. I would say this wine is at or near peak drinking.
