Dark red/purple. Black fruit nose, but has a prune-like quality in the mouth and is unaccountably nearly leaden on the palate. Tasted twice with consistent notes. Disappointing experience

Decent wine on day one with bright cherry flavors. Simple but pleasant. Day two (overnight in a half bottle) and the wine had fallen apart and went down the drain.

(Barbera TABARIN Icardi) Piedmont Dear Friends, Everyone is looking for $10 wine that elevates its pedigree above the bargain level and if you are looking for top-class wine from Piedmont (or in general), look no further. Barbera is often misunderstood by the US populous but it is an everyday workhorse for locals in Alba and Asti. It's deft acidity cuts through the rich Piedmontese cuisine, which has earned it the nickname of the Chianti of the North. As has been the mantra lately, high-level wine in the $10-12 range has become scarce and especially so from Piedmont - here is one that fits the bill. Icardi makes this Barbera with care (to be consumed any day of the week) but it is no shrinking violet - it is a serious wine but still medium bodied and fresh. They recommend it with braised meats or stew - even something like shepherd's pie but I would also try a variety of pasta. Many of my friends in Alba prefer a good Barbera with their pizza and I see no reason to disagree. Just reviewed, this is another wine that I have to put out now or lose the allocation to the Far East: We have an outstanding price on this wine, about the same as in Asti. This parcel is directly from the source with perfect provenance 2006 Icardi Barbera d'Asti "Tabarin" Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Italy7745

My last bottle. Still acceptable as a food wine, but not improving.

Nothing special- a bit flat and no meaningful nose/no staying power.Much better values are available in the price range.

Pleasant enough. Used a bunch for cooking - bright, light, cherry, thin. Good $10 bottle.
