Santa Barbara Trip - July 2008 (Santa Barbara County, CA): tasted at the winery. 60% sangiovese and 40% cabernet. this supertuscan-style effort is no good, in short. the nose is bitter and green and the wine smells of seaweed. on the palate, it's all underripe cranberries, green pepper, and seaweed. no tannins and the finish is horrible. it tastes like bitter compote, which i would actually prefer to drink.
