Premier Cru Table (The Fifth Avenue Hotel): 00642/1180. Not as well-cut as recent vintages, but showing very good balance and signature popcorn reduction, if slightly thinner. 93

Tasted blind with Pacalet against '01 d'Auvenay Auxey Duress. The bourgogne was more crispy and fresher than the '01. The typical Leroy popcorn nose was obvious. A good amount of citrus fruit and mineral on the palate, but it was not as flavorful and complex as the Auxey Duress. The finish was also relatively shorter. The acidity in this wine was higher than the Auxey Duress probably due to a younger vintage. With aging, the acidity should be able to balance back with the fruit. No need to rush on this one.

Side by side with Leroy aligote 06, more restrained, tight and more complex nose with some oak, mint, cool tropical fruit. Medium plus palate with more elegance, very long finish with lots of minerals. Acidity pretty sharp for a 06 white, lots of life left no need to rush.

Incredible from Aligote. Classic matchstick aromatics. Clearly not Chardonnay. None the worse for it! (386/1180)

Burnt coconut skin, rubber, and pears on the nose. The palate was crispy and sharp with high acidity. As good as the last bottle..very consistent!
