Bright yellow gold. At its peak. Still fresh. Intense honeysuckle, peach, brioche, almond, toasted marshmallow characters. Sweet on the palate but not on the finish. So impressive for its age.

Gorgeous colour, but not quite as golden as you might expect. There is clarity in the glass and on the palate. Lychee typicity with hints of grapefruit and elderflower, but everything is in balance - not cloying, bitter, or fat. In fact the energy of this wine is quite surprising. Did wonders with foie gras.

Tasted at Hugel, short note. In a very good shape now, typical Gewürztraminer without any Botrytis. Full bodied though very harmonious, the sweetness is well integrated, medium to long finish.

S Housewarming (River Valley): Pop and poured. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, gold colour. Legs. Nose is clean, no oxidation at all, medium+ intensity, with aromas of honey, lychees, sweet spices. Developed. On the palate, off-dry, medium acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of honey, cream, lychees, orange peel, and some petroleum oil. Medium+ finish. Very good quality. Good that a Gewurztraminer could last so long. Drink up soon, unlikely to develop any further. The "Hommage Jean Hugel" label is used to indicate semi-sweet wine with less concentration and sweetness than the Vendange Tardive range. This range was introduced with the 1997 vintage to commemorate the company's 50th vintage under Jean Hugel.

quite exotic, with orange peel initially, nice wine particularly for Asian food
