  • Garnet with slight browning at the rim. After an hour of air in the bottle, this started to open up some. There are some dried cherry aromas and stoniness on the nose. The palate is lightweight, and the slightly chalky tannins stick out over the fading fruit. It's an enjoyable enough sipper right now, but I doubt holding this longer will help it improve.

  • This was spoiled in some way that wasn't corked. Hard to describe, but very strange.

  • In contrast to my previous bottle 14 months earlier, this one was open and giving. Bright, juicy fruit, light bodied and really refreshing. I did not find the tannins to be nearly as imposing as the last bottle.

  • Ruby, starting to show some bricking. The nose here is lovely, if simple: red berry fruits and a nice stony streak. It never really opened up on the palate though. It's got a swath of grainy tannin--pretty rustic, actually--that renders the mouthfeel quite hard. There is fruit under there, and bright acidity to boot. But the tannins brooked no resistance. This was drunk over the course of only a few hours though. I strongly suspect if it had gotten 4-5 hours of air (and warmed up more from cellar temp) it would have fleshed out better.
