Mid, very coppery gold. Very mature riesling on the nose, quickly fading to not very much at all. Fully mature palate. Bone dry with an almost Germanic searing acidity. A bit past it, maybe, but still nicely drinkable, elegant riesling. Perhaps it should be better: it's only 22 years, and I've had rieslings over 50 years old with more vivacity and interest.

Medium gold, slightly coppery. Fully mature, even slightly tired riesling nose, initially quite raisiny and honeyed, but with aeration a lot of the nose blows off leaving ... well ... not a great deal on the nose. Good, mature riesling palate. Quite rich and mouthfilling, yet absolutely bone dry to the point almost of crispness. There's a slight eau de vie de poire william spirituosity that fades in and out. Good depth, though not as complex as I might have hoped. Massive length. Elegant, mature Alsace riesling.

Mid gold, but still with a greenish tinge. Good, mature riesling nose with nice petrol notes initially. But then after aeration it suddenly loses virtually all its aromas. Bone dry palate - and actually feeling a bit dried out rather than just bone dry. There is some slightly raisined fruit, some good acidity and really quite remarkable length. Is this past it? Initially, I thought so, but as it sits for a few minutes in the glass, I'm less sure. It does lack a bit of fruit, but it's still pretty much all there.

Bastille Day Dinner (Lavandou, Washington, DC): I've been of fan of Schlossberg rieslings for sometime now, but this was my first time trying a Grand Cru riesling from Wineck-Schlossberg situated nearby (from what I can tell). The bouquet here was sleek and precise with lychee, lemon, rocks, and lanolin all intertwined. The palate was also razor sharp with precise citrus and mineral tones. Finish was lengthly and complex. Thought this was drinking exceptionally well.
