Records not handy. Bought 6b--probably from Binny's--18-19 years ago, probably well under 20/b; this is #1. Solid cork. Decanted with moderate sediment for its age. Medium purple, almost tranluscent--like a darker Pinot; nose initially reticent but some subtle complexity emerged after an hour that followed on the palate with blackcurrant, some tobacco, bit of licorice; good mouthfeel. It took some concentration, but this was delicious--like a lighter version of a Saint-J Second Growth. Best to drink when you can concentrate. Glad I have more. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: For me, scores on a "100-point scale" are misleading. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. This is notable+ when considering quality, age, and price.

Tertiary notes have developed subtly. Tannins are fully integrated into a rounded texture and there are notes of mature red fruits, leather and wet soil. What a great little find this was.

Driven, mature fruit with no rough edges. Suggestions of pencil lead. Quite soft, and the tannic structure has faded into the background. Drink up.
