  • {screwcap, 12.5%} Mid yellow/gold. Developing aromas, somewhat subtle, of spiced apple and cloves. The palate is significantly advanced over the last 12 months, with the acid softened right out, and a browning, custardy quality to the yellowing fruits. There's still a slightly furry, grape-skin texture to the wine, but its not what you'd call tannic at all. It's also lightening up somewhat; this is barely medium-bodied, and although it's fairly even in its presence on the palate, there's only a short-medium length finish, and the flavours don't appear to really be multi-dimensional. A decent and unusual wine at its peak.

  • {screwcap, 12.5%} Lemon with green. Intense nose of apples, lanolin and mostly pears. The palate is intriguing, quite thick in texture, with spiced pear flavours, furry grape-textured fine tannins (really), and an almost greasy mouthfeel. It's not heavy or hot, so you wouldn't take it for a viognier. A bit one-dimensional perhaps, but an interesting and very non-mainstream wine for the A$12 the winery charges. Finishes with a citric twist on the front palate, and just enough cleansing acidity to lead you to another glass.

  • {screwcap, 12.5%, A$11} Pale straw shot with green. Thick, waxy lanolin-type aromas. An opaque nose, and a long way from the transparent aromas offered by aromatics like riesling or sauv blanc. The palate is expectedly dense, with a thick, almost greasy texture, and those same chewy flavours (but no oak, of course). Medium-bodied, with presence on the front & mid-palates; it finishes warmer than its 12.5% alcohol would indicate. A bit up-and-down for flavour now, deserves a chance to age a little to pick some extra dimensions.

  • Compelling wine given the scarcity of 100% rousanne (anywhere in the world) and the fact this wine is a mere $13 at cellar door. One of those wines you could comfortably recommend as drinking in the year on vintage. Flavours are driven mostly by a broad citrus note with some riper fruit salad character as well. A classic "Classic Dry White" and perhaps a touch old fashioned. Heats up a touch on the finish.
