Tasted by matthewjhale on 10/15/2009 & rated 83 points: Dark pink color. Kind of a tight nose. I'm getting some really light strawberry or strawberry candy, maybe even watermelon candy, and floral aromas. Pretty light on the palate as well with the strawberry coming trough and turning a little bit sour on the finish. Good long finish for a rose. Neither the alcohol or acidity are too strong but a little more fruit would improve the balance tremendously. (288 views)
Tasted by Cassel on 9/28/2009 & rated 82 points: Not much to this wine. Non descript. (313 views)
Tasted by wineywhites on 8/18/2009 & rated 85 points: Cherry, herbal. Not as much minerality as I like in a dry rose. would drink again, but not my favorite. (415 views)

Tasted by Alemany on 8/4/2009 & rated 88 points: Ver fresh (520 views)
Tasted by WineontheBarrelhead on 7/28/2009 & rated 86 points: This has a great deal of depth and complexity for a rose, featuring jammy aromas and flavors of ripe strawberries, fruit compote and a dash of cardamom. Extracted and viscous, with a lingering finish. Recommended. (566 views)
Tasted by JustAllie on 7/26/2009 & rated 85 points: A very interesting wine, but not one I really "liked" all that much. Spiciness and strength of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape comes out as you let the wine warm up a bit. Some fruitiness but really very dry and crisp overall. Certainly more delicate and nuanced than a red wine from the same grape, but not as delicate as some other rosé wines because the grape is such a powerful grape to start with. (540 views)
Tasted by Splashy09 on 7/26/2009 & rated 83 points: An unusual wine as the peper and spice of the Cabernet comes through in a much lighter style. Interesting, but not an easy quaff. (339 views)
Tasted by rjonas on 7/25/2009 & rated 84 points: Just okay.... Nice and clean but nothing outstanding. (617 views)
Tasted by TLHWG on 7/23/2009 & rated 86 points: Nose: steel, saline/mineral, red fruit. after opened for 5 hours, overt barnyard (nice)

Flavor: steely, mineral/saline, little red fruit--more dry than sweet. But light bodied (no weight or viscosity), and although I wouldn't describe it as unbalanced it could be better balanced.

Overall: light but complex rose for $12. (692 views)
Tasted by jessbrater on 7/12/2009 & rated 92 points: crisp, fruity but not too sweet with a slightly tart finish, refreshing, summery, citrus undertones (707 views)
Tasted by Anonymous on 7/12/2009 & rated 86 points: Nice cherry nose. Low acidity, but not too soft, making it easy drinking and refreshing. (729 views)
Tasted by jonbrater on 7/12/2009 & rated 91 points: very nice summer wine. berry and then lemon, tart finish. Good buy. (716 views)
Tasted by pwarms on 7/10/2009 & rated 85 points: (558 views)
Tasted by ABM on 7/8/2009 & rated 85 points: Clean clear minerally taste but not memorable. Paired well with grilled white fish. (741 views)
Tasted by VoteferPedro on 7/3/2009 & rated 88 points: very good rose at a good QPR.
Eye: appealingly slightly pinker than salmon
Nose: strawberry and green leafy nose
Tongue palate matches nose but gets a slightly beefy flavor on the back end (That's not a bad thing) with a super long finish for this price range. (775 views)
Tasted by bobbert on 6/15/2009 & rated 90 points: surprising nice rose (930 views)
Tasted by tvel on 5/10/2009 & rated 88 points: Pork Fest Wines: 06 Charvin, 01 Turley, 96 Grasso, 02 Shirvington, etc. (Rockridge, CA (Oakland)): At this point, i thought we needed an intermezzo wine...this is what I am talking about in Rose...crisp, nice minerality, pretty laser like strawberry and red cherry fruit with a little spice. At $6 or so...a nice buy. (1027 views)

RAP: Rosé Avengers and Producers (Rosé advocacy group)

Rosé wines vary from just pink to almost raspberry juice red in color, and can be referred to as rosé, pink or blush wines. Rosés are made from black grapes, but don’t fully turn red because the grape skins are removed from the juice mere hours after contact. This brief contact with the grape skins gives the wine a pink color from the slight transference of red pigments from the skins. Rosés can also be made by blending together white and red wines, but this is not very common outside of champagne. This brief skin contact also ensures that a minimal amount of tannins enters the wine. Adapted from Winegeeks website.

Stellenbosch Wine Routes
The historical town of Stellenbosch boasts a winemaking tradition which stretches back to the end of the 17th-century.

Stellenbosch is the educational and research centre of the winelands. Stellenbosch University is the only one in South Africa with a viticultural and oenological department, and many of the country's most successful winemakers studied there. The Nietvoorbij Institute of Viticulture and Oenology is also in Stellenbosch and this organisation has one of the most modern experimental wineries in the world and, at its experimental farms (situated in several wine growing districts), important research into new varietals, clones and rootstocks is undertaken.

The mountainous terrain, good rainfall, deep well-drained soils and diversity of terroirs make this a sought-after viticultural area. The rapidly increasing number of wine estates includes some of the most famous names in Cape wine. The district, with its mix of historic estates and contemporary wineries, produces excellent examples of almost all the noble grape varieties.

The intensively farmed Stellenbosch district has been divided up into several smaller viticultural pockets including Jonkershoek Valley, Papegaaiberg, Simonsberg-Stellenbosch, Bottelary, Devon Valley and Banghoek.
