Dark bright red colour and just a touch of brick around the rim. Nose very much as it was nine years ago when I drank it last - quite complex, dark red fruit, iodine, mineral, forest floor. The palate is balanced, still some tannins but in harmony with the fruit. Moderate finish. Still great Italian food wine. Time to drink up.

Dark bright red colour; no brick. Nose is quite complex, dark red fruit, iodine, mineral, forest floor. The palate suggests the wine is approaching prime, began quite tannic but rounded out and the fruit moved front and centre within half hour in the glass. The tannins are still notable but the fruit flavours will outlast them. Not a particularly long finish but decent. Great Italian food wine. Drink now and likley will go another five years.

A real winner. Balanced, elegant, food friendly but stood up on its own before dinner. Ready now but will age several more years as the tannins were persistent over the entire bottle.

Color: Black cherry, 1/2 cm ruby rim. Bouquet: Fragrant, strawberry, later on toasted oak, vanilla, sweet spice, strawberry/cherry. Flavor: Savory and sweet black cherry, black berry, cassis with spice on the mid-palate. Some chocolate and caramel on the finish. Comments: The most New World wine of the Enoteca tasting; showed some yummy New World fruit (no tomato in this one). Strong tannins though not at all rough. 6,000 yen.

Classical Italian top wine - with heavy Sangiovese. Lots of marachino cheriese in the nose. Not yet at the top...
