Something was off with this bottle. Wasn't corked or even prematurely oxidized. The color was even a bit off. Strange flavor and nothing like the wonderfully rich, buttery chardonnay they usually have. Disappointing.

Wish I could agree with the prior review, but all I'm getting is some apple, some fading fig and maybe some brioche....hints at its former glory, this is past its prime IMHO.

Dinner at Bourbon Steak (Four Seasons, Washington DC): Another outstanding bottle! The balance is impeccable here. Rich tones of figs, almonds, vanilla, and lemons are perfectly in balance and are roped together with a sexy minerality finish. Everyone at the table was blown away with its complexity and mouthfeel. Wonderful domestic chardonnay.

(Maldonado Los olivos Chardonnay) #2; COLOR-medium golden; NOSE-very intriguing and different; a mustard component on the attack; almost a Sherry-like; almost like Sherry mustard meets green fruit; vey different; I like this very much; great nose; almost Scotch-like; C Mott say "honey" and GV agrees enthusiastically; butterscotch and caramel; PALATE-great acidity; quite sharp on the initial attack; on the finish, getting a maple syrup, caramel, butterscotch profile; nutty -- almonds and hazelnut; almost like Nutella without the chocolate; fascinating; this tastes older than a 2006 vintage, if tasting blind, I wouldn't be surprised if this was a high quality 1994-1996 vintage as it has that metallic copper edge component; I like this wine and fairly priced; I think a lot of Burgundy heads would really like this; really well made; almost a hint of Alsatian petrol action; WS-92; GV-91+

Unfortunately, this wine past it's peak: Brown and vinegary.
