  • ruby red with a hint of orange, rather neutral nose if with some plums and almond, decent depth of fruit on palate (plums, blackberry), medium bodied if quite high in alcohol, slightly tough and unforgiving - remaining acidity, medium tannins, average result from a poor year; lack of development in the bottle

  • Rosso Piceno is usually a diamond in the rough; it is a very lovely blend of Sangiovese & Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and is generally an excellent value and a solid wine. However, this one wasn't quite up to par. I think there might have been a larger percentage of Montepulciano in this one because it was very very dry.
