Another Saturday at Knightsbridge - mostly blind (Northbrook, IL): Tasted double blind. Good spice on nose with mostly black fruit character along with some emerging age. Everything comes together very harmoniously from middle to the very balanced finish. I thought it from Vosne from a ripe vintage based on spice and fruit, but was one vineyard away. At its peak today, but this should hold for close to another decade.

Initially no nose whatsoever, but over the course of several hours decanted I get faint scents of ham, dirt, and even just maybe pomegranate. I would recommend decanting this wine. In the mouth it is light to medium bodied, with no objectionable flavors and perhaps some hints of red fruit, but basically underperforms. This is my first foray into Nuits St. Georges, and I suppose I was expecting a more flavorful and delicious experience. I have had equally good domestic juice for 1/5 the price.

This has opened up beautifully. Tons of concentrated red fruit on the palette, and a very long finish. Yum.
