A dead ringer for a SV Turley. Lots of extracted fruit with notes of currant, bramble, and pepper. No oakiness to speak of. Very enjoyable wine from a tough vintage.

Still lots of fruit. Didn't expect a Zin to last/hold up this well. Tons of fruit; would have made a great late harvest wine. Paired superbly with Santa Maria Tri-Tip; not so odd that it comes from the same geographic region. I forget the Nose, but the palate was juicy dark plum, dark cherry, small amount of smoke, sweetness running from front to back of the palate. I'm not a big sweet fan, but held up to finish the bottle with dessert: chocolate-covered fruits from TJ's. Wine novices even stated: "It was good, and I don't like red wines."

Big, but not over the top - tons of nuanced fruit, if a bit lacking in subtlety. A big, slobbery black lab of a wine. In my head, I wish for a bit more acidity and tannin to provide better structure, but by the time I look over at the bottle, it's empty. Not 'my style' but I enjoyed it just the same!

Color: beautiful purple. Nose: Bold and passionate. lots of red berry fruit. A little bit of smoke and a tiny bit of cinammon. Palate: Full-bodied, well balanced, and powerful. Lots of jammy berry fruit. Clean, long finish that is reminiscent of new leather. This is a very enjoyable zin. A wine to seek out. These wines really express the terroir of these dry-farmed, low-yield vineyards. Winemaker says it can be stored until 2013. I'd drink it now. 50, 5, 11, 18, 9 = 93 (Outstanding)
