  • I am not sexist, it is just that makeup comes to play in this, and not that many men wear it. So you walk in a bar to meet a woman someone told you was pretty good looking AND smart (WS 92). You see her across the room and she looks pretty attractive. She is supposed to be pretty modest ($) and is. You go over and sit down and out of the corner of your eye you see something odd about her face, but you focus on conversation. Things go well at first, but all of a sudden she only wants to talk about cats (felines or the musical, who cares). Then you notice the make up, there is a lot of it. So you wonder, she must have really been different 6 years ago when your friend met her, but it doesn't seem possible. This spaetlese has the initial hints of something special, the nose, the attack, it is even starting to show secondary Mosel characteristics, but half way through the rug is pulled out and that is it. So you have another sip, oh still good, but gone immediately. H-B is a Total Wine staple, I am not sure others sell it. That in of itself casts a shadow on it. Like when I see a label at Total that says Alfred Moriconi Selection or something like that, you know it sucks. This wine is sweet, sure, but it ain't suh-weet. I am certain it won't improve, the near acidless wonder must have spent itself at the WS tasting in 2008. My other 2 bottles will be served to someone who says, 'oh I like sweet wines'. It might be better put in a SodaStream and sektified.

  • Soft nose of tangerine, lemon zest and a slight note of rubber. Medium to light palate. Pineapple, tangerine, honeydew melon. It's definitely sweet with very slight acidity in the end but overall nice balance.

  • Yummy, but I agree that it seems a bit flabby. Not quite enough acidity to balance.

  • Pale gold-green with a lovely nose of petrol, lime, and tangerine. Spritzey on P&P
with the palate showing tangerine, lime and petrol. This is so good for the price!
Light, delicate and refined. I wish I had more especially at this price ($17.50).
