Decanted for 1 hour - Color: Deep dark red, Nose: a nice mix of dark and red berries, oak, alcohol, oak and did I mention oak. Palate: As I thought...HOLY OAK...medium body and a bit tannic (on day 1) but the OAK just dominates. Way too much oak for my palate and the heat on the backend just bothered me.
Day two tannins softened up but the OAK is just way over the top.

Gorgeous ruby color, spicy nose, Bordeaux-esque in the crispness, good 20-30 second finish, competent but not outstanding. Lacks the silkiness I would expect of a primarily Merlot wine - the petite verdot stands out more than I would expect.

Perfect now. Might be able to squeak out a year or two more.
