This is a wonderful and surprising bottle. I was given this back in the late 80’s / early 90’s. Opened tonight on a whim. Wow - good stuff. Sweet, Madeira like. Reddish amber color. The nose has figs, candied orange and roasted nut scents. Rich, viscous and sweet. There is ample acid to balance but this is a seriously rich glass of wine. Interesting, unique and an absolute joy. Awesome. (95)

Dark red. Very animal nose compard to the Beaulieu wine. Hints of vegetable and stewed fruit. Actually the fruit is quite prominent and very nice. Hot and sweet concentrated fruit flavours. Long sweet finish. Very good. This bottle was purchased in 1987.
Nice after dinner drink. Not too sweet or cloying but satisfying with a little burnt orange and nuttiness to complement the honey and fig. Not killer, but a very nice example.

Journey through Portugal @ Home: Nice, rancio character. Dried oranges and figs. A bit soft on the acids but enjoyable. I suspect this was probably bottled in the 80's. Nice drink, but seems to lack freshness I would expect.

At MPL's house from his cellar. Purchased from the Cannery. Very deep amber-orange. Aromatic, varnish-orange muscat (Essencia) nose. Alcohol on the nose. Very concentrated and rich in the mouth. Mouth-filling, alcoholic. 5-10-17-8: 90/100.
