The richness the wine had in its youth is, unfortunately, gone. It's left with pleasant sourcherry and plum aromas and flavors. It doesn't really taste old, it's just not what it was in its youth. Drink these soon and hope for the best.

Color: medium/light ruby core -> diffuse light ruby rim. Relatively muted bouquet of plums, charcoal and black cherries. Not really getting into this . . . rather foursquare, chunky fruit and ashy tannins with a fairly short finish. Surprising since I've enjoyed other vintages of Syrah from Rocca. Perhaps a bad bottle or in a bad place at the moment but I think this is probably representative.

up to 89 after sitting opened and upright for more than a day; may have been corked and we did notice a thin film of something on the sides of the bottle; was to be the signature wine for a meatloaf dish that took almost all day to prepare; all was not lost as the wine used for the glaze saved the evening and the next day.
Might have scored and tasted better but I popped and poured this bottle. Was definately integrating and softening in the glass. Dark purple color and dark fruits. Some dark chocolate and dirt notes. Good acidity for food.

Very smooth with nice red fruit. Nuanced. It is drinking well as a mature syrah.
