Assorted riesling at D Cuisine (Chicago, IL): Thickly textured and rich for a 1990 (I also didn't get as much acidity as I would have expected). Shows its maturity in the form of ripe and dried stone fruit, with plenty of botrytis notes as well. Drinking nicely now, with a relatively rounded texture.

Champagne, Riesling, and Bordeaux with Skippy (Chicago, IL): #09-91, 8% abv. Haven't been a fan of what this house did to JJC, but setting that aside, you can't dispute that this was an absolutely brilliant bottle of riesling. Tons of complexity, with a creamy texture, as well as ample sweetness. It's full-bodied and rich, and holds the high acidity of 1990 so well here. The fruit is still fresh, and there are some well-delineated secondary characteristics as well.

21st of 24 halves, pnp, perfect cork and level, fresher than last bottle in 16, if less sweet, fine balance and nuance, good for at least 5 more years. F+ (18).

Tasting with Salil at my house: Popped and poured, tasted, then returned to an hour or two later. Salil thought this was the goldkapsel and I would believe it. Ripe white fruit, and a savory sweetness that kept me going back for more until the bottle was sadly empty. What a treat.

Stone fruit, flowers, honey, acid and sweetness in great balance- dense but light at the same time, not at all tiring.
