Very clean nose, with bright, classic riesling tones. Quite minerally and a bit of lime zest on the nose as well. The palate is really flat though and feels slightly oxidative (not oxidized). Lacking excitement in the acid department too.
Very much like a ligher, less-concentrated version of a Keller GG. More racy and minerally, without the textural, slightly oily components. A hint sweeter than a full-on orange-label wine, but this has similar complexity to the lesser GGs (which really makes sense given that this is basically a different batch of the Kirchspiel GG).
A good, not great showing of this wine. Ripe and quite minerally, with good 2001 acidity overall. Slightly creamy with a lemon curd quality on the palate as well. I do like the stony minerality here.
Clean and bright with that great 2012 acidity in full display, with just the right amount of sweetness to counterbalance. Great mineral texture (almost chewy) and balance with all the separate elements. Probably not as interesting when this loses its primary intensity though.
Consistent with my previous experience with this wine. The age has dialled down the sweetness a bit, and the cooler vintage gives this more of a mineral/acid-driven style that I quite like. Not as fruit-forward as Willi can be. Drinking very well now.
Showing incredibly well, and one of my favourite wines tonight. Clean, light, and minerally, without the modern weight of CSH. It's racy and lean, but not lacking in complexity. Some lime zest and the generous acids give this a freshness that belies its 31 years. Delicate and delicious.
Showing kind of flat and not as exciting as my previous experiences with this wine. It got better with air, but the nose was a little unclean and showing a lot of earthy elements. The weight is correct but the palate's complexity just isn't there either. Far overshadowed by the brilliant 1990 CFE VT.
Oddly not as sculpted and racy as my previous bottles (though the last time I had a sound one was a few years ago). This has a peachy quality to this, and the wine comes off as a little diffuse and lacking precision. Still plenty of 1996 acidity, but this doesn't have that mineral backbone and structure that I expected.
Absolutely stunning wine; this was showing much better than the 1989 CSH VT alongside. Clean fruit that is still youthful and showing but modest petrol notes. The botrytis isn't as prominent here and this doesn't feel mushroomy either. It's more of a textural thing on the palate with lovely breadth and concentration. Another one of my favourites tonight.
Thickly textured and rich for a 1990 (I also didn't get as much acidity as I would have expected). Shows its maturity in the form of ripe and dried stone fruit, with plenty of botrytis notes as well. Drinking nicely now, with a relatively rounded texture.

2007 Trimbach Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Emile

Perfectly fine riesling nose, but just kind of a dull thud on the palate. Not clearly flawed, but definitely lacks vivacity for such a young wine.

Nothing's wrong with this, it's just, well, not very good. Tastes like old riesling but lacking depth on the palate.
