youthful and seems tight. Opens to black raspberry, sweet herbs, iron? Berries and plum, deep fruited, lots of tannin still present. Seems a bit overt for Drew. Became muted and uninteresting on the second day.

we had this side-by-side w/ Drew McDougall farm from '07. most people like the Sonoma version. I thought the Gatekeeper was a bit more interesting - more complex structure while not losing the pinot elegance ... drank well

Still amazing and very lively. Great red cherry nose and some notes of floral aromas. The bright red fruits continue to the palate with some darker flavors emerging. Great balance, structure and sweet oak. Nice persistent finish and seamless from beginning to end. Excellent effort.

Intense cherry fruit and cedar on the nose and continuing cherry and plum palate. Elegant and bright with hints of plum and floral. Deeper cherry and blackberry fruits emerge on the palate. Great acidity and fine tannins. Some rose petal and mineral influences on the finish. Subtle wood and both red and blue berry fruit. Naturally sweet with great balance. Dusty and persistent finish.

tasted side-by-side with the other Drew '07 pinot (one from Anderson Valley and one from Santa Rita) ...
The Anderson Valley was more elegant and had cooler climate characteristics - all were very well balanced and enjoyable
The Santa Rita Hills was bigger, bolder and had more spice at the back of the palate ... all again, very well balanced and enjoyable
I had both w/ plank-grilled Copper River Salmon ... a delight all the way around
