- Brick color and aromas of blackberry and black currant. It's balanced and has flavours of black pepper, chocolate and cherry with a full body. Bright texture with a long finish - Bought this during a library sale which included '04 - '09 + '16. I was a little concerned about whether these older ones had peaked. Yet, so far, '04 thru '06 have not disappointed. This '06 is fantastic. The finish is extremely long. Pairing with ribs and watching Notre Dame v Purdue. Go Irish!!!

Nice nose of dark fruit with just a hint of green herb (sage, bay, etc. - not green pepper); on the palate it's medium - full bodied with a nice level of richness but a supple midpalate and finish. Lots of dark fruits with black cherries, cassis and black raspberries dominating; the tannins have mostly resolved and the wine is soft and supple as a result. This is a nice wine, drinking well now, but it doesn't have the depth of flavor or the complexity to really evolve much more....drink them if you've got them, now and over the next 3 years +/-.

Drinking a little weird. Not spoiled, but disjointed. Acidity is there, but not much fruit and tertiary flavors are too shy. Cheers!

The Beast is a kitten. Way past prime. If you have this in your cellar, bring a back-up.

Washington reds tasted at the Wine Bloggers Conference; 8/17/2012-8/25/2012 (Portland, OR): Complex from the outset with olive, cedar, leather and currant notes. The palate adds blackberry, spice and espresso. Round and full with fine tannin and a lingering finish.
