This wine had a deep yellow center and clear rims. The medium+ intensity nose put forth dried peach, pears, lemon zest, and some minerals.
In the mouth, this wine was rich and ripe with beerenauslese weight. However, it had sneaky fine grained acidity underneath all that fruit. The length was excellent at first. Oddly, it seemed to lose a little vigour with air.
I agree with other tasters that there was a lot of Botrytis in this wine. It was so ripe that it was a touch monotoned. I was thinking that the acidity would become a bit stronger with extended air but even after 6+ hours there was no noticeable improvement.
This was a little disappointing versus my expectations.

They don't make 'em like they used to (New York City, NY): #21-93. From half-bottle. This was more like a Sauternes than a BA. Tons of sugar, kind of syrupy, and a lot lower in acidity than a riesling with this amount of sugar ought to have. To top that off, in addition to the potent botrytis, there was a pronounced orange peel tone (and that's about it -- this came off a bit simplistic). Granted, there's no mistaking this for Sauternes even if served blind thanks to that acidity. But this is definitely one of the lowest-acidity rieslings (or wines) of the evening.

Excessibe Rhone and Riesling night (St. Marks Place Grand Sich, NY): Not the most finessed BA (certainly alongside the '94) - this is a mass of botrytis with tons of ripe apricots, pineapples, honey, brown sugar, and spicy flavours with tremendous sweetness and intensity. It's very fun to drink, though feels a touch soft and leaves me wanting both a bit more complexity beyond botrytis, and more acidity. But the '94 provided both of those in spades...

The Tale of Many Auslese and One Scheu: started of with plastic note on the nose. Some of that blew off with time - but not all. this is all botrytis all the time :) spicy nose with ripe apricots and dry apricots over burnt orange slices and baked apples. ripe and sweaty in the middle. good finish but needs a bit ore zing for the big boy.

Never could stand that fork ... (Mikhailgrad (Rego Park, Queens)): Much better than the last bottle, but still just very good. Nose is sugary with brown sugar and a plastic-chemical smell, spices - cinnamon. Baking spices and a baked quality. The palate is better - rich, botrytis, citrus-apricot, spices, delicious - just a little soft. Lots of baking spices. Nose - 4.5-5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1-1.5/2 = 15.5-16.5/20.
